looking for good, older games

Basically, I'm cheap, and don't want to spend $50 for a game (figure I might as well wait half a year and save $20 per game). Some of the older games I have right now are Call of Duty (and United Offensive), Call of Duty 2, F.E.A.R., Halo, The Orange Box (well, HL2 is older), and Far Cry.Any recommendations? I mostly like fps, although I do like rts as well (of those, I have BME Anthology and Starcraft). looking for good, older games
Go back further. Get into the adventure games of the late 80s through the late 90s from companies like Lucas Arts and Sierra. looking for good, older games

Painkiller and everyone says Escape from Butcherbay is awesome but I have yet to try it.Earth 2160 is only $5 on steam. I liked it, but it wasnt very popular. Too excessive of a tech tree system.
SILENT STORM GOLD
Is 1993 too old??? :)
Try Homeworld. It's a quite different from the norm for RTSs, and it's hard, but the campaign is amazing.
Aquaria is only $30 and it's a masterpiece. Not an older game, but whatever, play it.
