Which Tactical Shooter to Choose?

I've never actually played a tactical shooter, somehow I've managed to miss them all. I'd really like to experience one, as their focus on tactics and squad based combat isntead of the standard one man army run and gun sounds appealing. It seems like the games I'll be looking at are Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, Rainbow Six Vegas, Freedom Fighters, or Gears of War.If anyone has any suggestions or opinions, I'd love to hear them. I'd like to play a tactical squad based game, multiplayer is not important at this time as I have other options for that. Thanks! Which Tactical Shooter to Choose?
Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway is the best tactical shooter I've played. R6V2 is also good.Which Tactical Shooter to Choose?
If you want a proper tactical shooter, you need to look at Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear, Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield and the original Ghost Recon + Island Thunder + Desert Siege for PC. You should also look for SWAT 3 and SWAT 4.GRAW, R6: Vegas etc., are more run and gun style shooters with poor AI and not much tactics, imo. R6: Vegas especially has a habit of spawning enemies in after you enter a room, making scouting out a room prior to entry completely pointless.

Yeah, Vegas doesn't have much tactics.
R6: Raven Shield %26 the original Ghost Recon are the last great Tactical Shooter.
Operation Flashpoint: Cold War CrisisThis is greatest tactical shooter/wargame ever.
Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis is one of the few tactical shooters I've played, and it's pretty good from the time I've put into it.
Original Ghost Recon + 2 expansion packs.
Thanks for the responses, I think I may try the SWAT games first.
I got R6V and the Brothers in Arms games.
Original Ghost Recon like has been said is actually still pretty good, it's quite hard, you can try a section over and over and only move forward about 100m (relative on the map).Raven Shield was quite good, same company who made it, has same feel to it....FF isn't really a tactical shooter, it's quite cartoony.SWAT series is quite good, best i've played.
SWAT4. It'll definately deliver on your Tac-FPS needs.
IF you have BF2, there is a really good and popular mod for it known as project reality.
Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is a really good game. Advanced Warfigher is a good one too. Also, try out Operation Flashpoint. Probably the most realistic game ever.
gears of war or brothers in arms hell's highway
operation flashpoint is now on GOG.com for legal download for only 9.99$ so that might be your cheapest bet, and you only have to wait as long as the download takes, no tax, and no shipping charges.
Definitely SWAT4
I haven't played Freedom Fighters or Gears of War, but I can comment on the rest. GRAW is one of the worst games ever; it's so difficult it's frustrating, and it looks aweful, mainly because of the bland colors. Both Vegas games aare really good, but SWAT 4 is more challenging and concentrates more on tatics, evident by the control you have over two teams instead of one like in Vegas. Good luck.
IMO best tactical shooter: Star Wars: Republic Commando
Vegas 2 is uber fun if you have a real friend(s) to play with. Play 2-player coop in story mode, or get a bunch of buds together for some 4-player Terrorist hunt. It does have some arcade-ish elements to it, but it's still a tactical shooter. I used to like Swat 4, but it feels ancient compared to Vegas due to the cool *cover* system and 3D action. One big glaring bug is an infinite sound loop that happens. Crashes sometimes. And the environment isn't very interactive (Duke 3D is more interactive, wtf, why take a step backwards?). This is all probably due to it being a port, and yes it feels like a console port, but once you are in the action, it doesn't really matter.
RSV2 is a good tactical shooter i enjoyed it while it lasted.
