Well, I have finally got Dead Space, all hyped up an sh*t, and it turns out I can't run it as nicely as I would like to. I mean, I hit minimum specs, and all other games whose min specs I met, I could play, at least, smoothly on low/medium settings. I'm pretty good at shooters, but the controls for Dead Space, Mouse Sensitivity (no matter how much I tweak it) even if all settings are set to low with lowest resolution available, while it still, surprisingly looks ''decent'' i'd like to see the gameplay improve for me. It's just too jerky. My main wish is to maybe be directed to some settings I could tweak, and to what extent to get better results, hoping it's not a lost cause. So these are my specs, and *yes* I do run it on a laptop, but in the end, it's the specs that really matter, right? :PDual Core 1.83Ghz (3.66Ghz total) Intel pentium 4 processorGeforce Go 7300 (linke: http://www.nvidia.com/page/go_7300.html) most of which being lies of course xD, meh marketing :s2Gig RamAnd that's pretty much about it. COD4, runs decent on high rez, crysis on low/medium, crysis warhead on low/medium, GoW on high etc etc.Dead Space is just not running nicely for me. If I move my mouse a bit it just jerks to the other side, if I just slide it a little to gain control it either moves so slowly that I'm puzzled whether I moved the damn mouse or not at all, or just not move at all.Any suggestions, other than ''Give it up, min specs are really undervalued, they just want to sell more'' would be very very much appreciated :pThanks, hoping I didn't waste my month's allowance on a game I can't even play >_< Dead Space Mouse Responsiveness
Turn off Vsync. If that doesn't work, then your FPS is too low and you need a better graphics card (which wouldn't suprise me. x300 Nvidia cards are about as cheap as you can get). Tech wise. The 7300 is worse than a 6600, so you're below minimum. Dead Space Mouse Responsiveness
Turn v-sync off, this tightens up the controls. However, it also creates tearing. So if you want v-sync, you need to enable triple buffering in the nvidia control panel and presto, fixed. What res are you running at, what default settings, I would put it at medium for your rig.
The mouse senstivity is not good in dead space.. it has this gamepad feel to it or like mouse mod created for RE4 on PC.. you still wouldn't have much problems with aiming..
Does this game have native gamepad support?
Does this game have native gamepad support?
Dead Space ? Yes it does.
I had to use my 360 gamepad in my USB port for the controls to be bearable. Definitely try turning of Vsync as that is what I had to do to get the mouse in the menu to not lag behind my input. Also, just because it is dual core does not mean that the two core's clock speeds can be combined.
I think I might try a gamepad for it. The mouse seems... off? I've turned off vsync but the sensativity still sucks. It's really low when aiming, but then moderatly okay when moving around. Can't get a happy medium, for me to be satisfied when aiming it's too high moving, and to be satisified moving it's too low aiming :S.
Hmm... I don't know why you're experiencing problems, death1505921. Your rig should be able to handle the game. I haven't experienced any problems with the keyboard %26 mouse controls. However, if the mouse sensitivity is not right for you, by all means you should play it on a gamepad. The game is way too easy with keyboard %26 mouse controls anyhow if you play it on normal difficulty.
Yeah, id say its prob not your pc, the game mouse input lacks quite a bit. Im a 100% M/kb fan, but in this game the 360 pad is a must to get that much more of an enjoyable experience. The 3rd person camera is off center too, which takes some time getting used to, not to mention the already low FOV.But, this doesnt mean the game provides a bunch of fun, and the quirks dont out wiegh the good stuff.
I have no problem with the mouse controls...but you do have to put it up to maximum sensitivity
the 7300 go is not going to be the best to run this game. but vsync will kill you if you have it on.
Well, I've given a go with vsync enabled as well as triple buffering, run on low lowest resolution and I haven't got any luck with it.Regarding dual core not combining their processing speed, it is the case for Dead Space since it does support dual core, so yes, I can combine them. My rig is able to run this game, even on medium with no fps drop, but still, the mouse is jerky, tried mouse sensitivity at 25%, 50%, 75%, 100% and still no luck. 25 is just too slow, 50 is wierd as I explained, 75 is a little bit fast and uncontrollable and 100 is just insane, one small slide turns the character 360 degrees. So the graphics card, while some of you blamed it as the cause, is not really a problem. Running high I lose fps, and it gets really slow as well screen tearing appears, medium is fairly smooth, putting the mouse aside, and low is just the same as medium, with minor differences. Keeping the character walking straight provides me with smooth animations, lighting works fine and all. When I use the mouse to look around, things f*ck up as I have mentioned beforehand.Still working on a solution, and so far, vsync does not help (same results, no difference really), only time game slows down a bit is when the doors open (e.g. elevator doors open to new area). I remind you I could play far cry 2 on medium, and Crysis on low/medium without issues.I'm still struggling with getting used to avoid headshots lol, I got pwnt by those small bloodsuckers too many times >.< damn habits, and most of the time it happens by accident.
how come the review in GS does not talk about the mouse issue at all? Did not these guys atleast check the Ea boards? Seriously, GS PC reviews are getting worse and worse everyday.
I have the mouse sensitivity turned all the way up. This allows me to swing the camera around fast and see everyhting around me. Once you right click the mouse you go into aim mode and that sensitivity is gone and you can aim and shoot with precision. Not sure what's going on, maybe you just have to get used to the controls.
I'm pretty sure the mouse responsiveness is nothing to do with my rig. It may just be I'm not used to it.As I'm playing at the moment I'm playing as I would most shooters, and expect when in ''Aim mode'' to be able to turn 360 degrees pretty fast. But it's designed to only shoot at whats in front of you, so you can get jumped on from behind.I guess I'll get used to it after a while, I'm playing on hard because I'd heard of how easy it is.
and expect when in ''Aim mode'' to be able to turn 360 degrees pretty fast.
Can't do that in this game, it's by design.
