Baldur's Gate 3

''Baldur's Gate III Baldur's Gate III: The Black Hound (code named Jefferson and FR6) was mentioned in early 2001 as a new game in the Baldur's Gate series to be made by Black Isle Studios using a completely new 3D engine. BG3 was originally going to be a departure from the high-powered epic of the Bhaalspawn saga to a low-key, roleplaying plot. With protagonists progressing to around level four at the end of BIS' typically enormous campaign and a hard cap at level eight, gameplay was refocussed to a flat and wide adventure emphasizing quests over combat. In fact, the game was only titled ''Baldur's Gate'' due to Interplay having lost the general D%26D license to Atari, but still retaining the right to make Baldur's GateD%26D games (the same reason as for BGDA's title.) branded The game appeared to be cancelled in 2003, just before its engine was repurposed for Black Isle's ill-fated Van Buren Fallout 3The Black Hound is currently under development as a module for Neverwinter Nights 2, being developed by Josh Sawyer, one of the designers of the cancelled game.[1] project. However, in April of 2004 IGN released information that a Baldur's Gate III is in the works. Any other information has, for now, not been released. There is no solid evidence as to whether or not the game is actually in development, although it will likely go ahead due to its commercial potential.[2] In the January 2008 issue of PC Gamer UK, the editor claims that he knows that Baldur's Gate III is indeed being worked on.''This is from wikipediaAny1 know something about it? Could there be some truth to these claims?I've bolded the last part cuz by january 2008 Dragon Age has been long anounced so it can't be a referance to itBaldur's Gate 3
I wouldn't bet on it, and there's a fair chance it wouldn't stand up to the originals or pretty much anything made with the infinity engine anyway. I wonder if it's just some lonely fan who's trying to stir up a rumor by abusing wikipedia. having said that if it were being made i'd cry with joy for about 3 days.Baldur's Gate 3
The Baldur's gate series and the other Infinity Engine games are my favourite games on the PC hands down, and I've been PC gaming for about 15 years. It would be awesome if BGIII was still alive, and in the works. Sort of the same thing going on with Fallout 3: all the rumours and speculation for a few years. Still, I'm not holding my breath, but I will cross my fingers.-Adios
I wouldn't like it if it used Neverwinter Nights engine. I'd say it would pretty much have to be fixed isometric just to keep the nostalgia of the first two, or maybe something like Titan Quest, where it's fixed 3D. Unfortunately, if they were going to make it, BG3 would be 3D and without that nostalgia I'd imagine it would lose about half its charm. It's a damn shame technology is at the forefront of everyone's mind, because sometimes it can be a real detractor.
maybe the editor MEANT Dragon Age? or the modded NWN2 thing?
Well, maybe if Dragon Age is successful and it will, then probably we will get by 2015
it won't happen. and if it does happen, wish it won't be another Fallout 3*.for BG fans, what's needed is not BG3, but a genuine return to BG type of RPG experience.also, veteran BG gamers would know that the story of child of Bhaal is finished and done with BG-BG2:SoAToB. The Bhaal story is premediated and previewed in BG. any game with *BG* in its title would just be a contrived pre-or-sequel riding on the series' fame and glory in CRPG.what is needed is a genuine D%26D game that surpasses NWN2->MotB. currently Obsidian actually has a better chance doing it with Bioware being a multi-platform studio now.
finally some people who talk sense. an isometric fixed viewpoint and pre rendered backgrounds are generally far superior to 3d graphics, you just have to look at nwn 2 to see that, i suppose the awful writing and voice acting doent help either.

[/QUOTE] I guess it's what happen to THIS Bhaal spawn that I play, and pretty much we've seen powerful Bhaal spawns, the throne of Bhaal and the end legend for my Bhaal spawn. not the other end of all other Bhaal Spawns. of course you can always let those dig our hero out of his legend to do more combats, or let gamers to assume other Bhaal spawns or even a prequel of Bhaal himself, but I do think it's unnecessary and contrived, since BG saga is mainly about ONE child of Bhaal, not all.
