COD4 disk error problems

Ok, I just got COD4 and the game won't work. I'll be honest I don't have a sound card for my computer, but I do have a good Nvida Geforce 9800. Anyway I run the single player normailly and I get this error message...----- Initializing Renderer ----

Error during initialization:
Miles sound system initialization failed.

my graphics card is fairly new Geforce 9800 GTX
My sound doesn't honestly work however, I don't have a sound card installed yet..., but the game should still work right?
LOL. The game just told you that it failed due to not being able to find a usable sound card. So in short, yes you need a sound card to play the game.
