Well i bought the game havent yet installed it it was cheap so i picked it up but is it live? as in alot of players playing it and is it good?????Counter Strike Source????
hardly a dead community but far from what i would call ''active'' like 20+ games with people.Counter Strike Source????
and thats on us west us east is about the same.
It's the most popular online game by far. It's very good but not very noob friendly. You are going to get killed ALOT for your first few runs but soon you'll pick it up. Assuming your good at FPS. Biggest tip I had when starting was to just stick to one map and one gun (Ak47 for T, M4a for CT) I stuck to De_dust2 and as a result it's still one of my favourite maps to play on.

I just checkedon steam servers and I'm @ 65 severs up with people in them. Hardly what I would call inactive. You will ALWAYS be able to find a server on there. Always, at least I always had and I've played at random times, sometimes middle of the day, night, 4am ect.

2nd most played FPS online, after CS 1.6. I have it but I don't like it much, just the zombie mod :P. Anyway, almost 70K players online at this moment.
its still one of the top online fps, the orig is still one of the top. and its probly the most accurate online fps. cod4 maybee more exciting but not as realistic when it comes to aiming and recoil.
It is an extremely good online game. Lots of people still play.
Lots of people playing, Realistic gameplay, TONS of user amde levels and its just a heck of alot of fun to play online.
Most of the active servers are French. ^^
Tons of people playing CSS, its easily has one of the most active communities.

Aslong as you have patience for when you die and have to game cam untill the round is dead, you should be fine.
I used to play CS1.6 all the time. And by that, I mean, it truly was my digital crack. I havn't touched CS in yonks, it was nearing 1 year from my last play, when I decided to purchase ''Source'' off of Steam. I can tell you now, within seconds of me booting it up, my brain fizzled. Failed to recall all the valuable 1.6 information, and I had to litterally soldier on as a n00b for quite some time. Until I regained my glory, and owned once more. 8)
Quite amazing game, but very large learning curve. Its rough because if you get frustrated with the regular gameplay and just wanna run and gun, you can pick a mod to play on, gungame for example. The problem with that is you don't really gain a lot of skill. My advice: play regular cs_ maps and be patient...the reward will be quite great :)
Play Office, auto shotty and P90 are noob weapons imo, try not to use them. They dont help you get better, us AK47 and M4, or the pump shotty. Those guns take a decent amount of skill.
You definitely won't run out of people to play with. It's one of the most popular online shooters out there.

It's completely useless at any range and it SHOULD be effective at close range, but the M4 usually wins in a p90 vs. m4 CQC. It's not a noob weapon because it actually requires some strategy to kill someone with. Autoshotty, yes. Only because there's a normal shotty that requires much more skill to use. The same cannot be said for the P90 (there's no SMG that requires more aiming or different strategy then the P90). If anything, I would think the AK and the M4 are the 2nd most noob weapons (after the AWP.. duh). Just because they are extremely versitile and can be used in any circumstance. They are easier to use than a sniper rifle and almost as effective, but they are much more effective at CQCs than a p90 (at least after you play for awhile. Initially, probably not).
